Ring Sizing and Jewellery Care

Ring sizing isn’t the easiest!

If you can we recommend coming into the studio to get your fingers sized. If this isn’t possible there are ways to work out sizing:

  • If you have a local jewellers near by pop in and ask them to size your finger.

  • You can order finger sizers online to try, we recommend sizers made of a hard material, anything soft/flexible can give a false reading.

  • If you have a ring that fits the finger for your new ring we can take the size from it.

A ring should be comfortable on your finger, if you shake your hands it shouldn’t slip off but also it shouldn’t be too tight on the finger. We do think it is up to you how you like a ring to feel on your finger. Try to size your finger when you are at a neutral temperature not too hot or too cold.

If you are going for a wide ring we sometimes need to size the ring up a little as wider rings are tighter on your finger.

If you are having a ring made or buying a ring as a surprise and are unsure about sizing feel free to contact Scarlett we can discuss ways to work out sizing from sending pictures of the recipients hands to measuring current rings of theirs against a ruler for the diameter each of these techniques can help us estimate a size.

Most rings can be resized, if they are unable to be resized this will be listed in the description or discussed in the design process. There will be a usually be a charge for resizing the cost of this will depend on the piece, in some cases we offer one free resize after purchase this will be confirmed in the design process.

Width of Ring

If you would like to commission a ring remotely we can look at styles together via emails and calls. One thing we need to know is what width you would like your ring to be this can vary from 1.5mm - 12mm. A way to check this is measure rings you like or own, or cut strips of paper in differing widths to try across your finger.

Ring Profile

There is a few different profiles of rings you can choose from - D shape, comfort fit, flat band or round wire. We can discuss these in our consultation.

Jewellery Care

If you are doing any activity that could knock, scratch or damage your ring I recommend you take it off - especially things like weight lifting &rock climbing.

Keep jewellery clear of chemicals. Try to put on lotions, perfumes on before jewellery and let them dry first.
